Springfield Estate "Life from Stone" Sauvignon Blanc, South Africa
This is one of the top Sauvignons in the world probably the best in South Africa. Made by Abrie Brewer who owns the estate along with his sister Jeanette. He has a non-intervention policy when it comes to winemaking not quite organic, but probably more so than some who use the name. Chateau Clerc-Milon 5eme Cru Classe Pauillac 1997
In 1970 Baron Philippe de Rothschild bought this medium sized estate, tucked between Mouton and Lafite and said to have first rate soils. The potential of which have never been realised. After much replanting, mostly with Cabernet Sauvignon, the hunch seems to have been proved correct, as Clerc-Milon is now an outstanding Pauillac.
